About The Event

Topic: Protecting and Monitoring Shorebirds During Coastal Construction Projects

Speaker: Niki Desjardin

Date/Time: Thursday, January 14th at 6:30PM

About the event: Niki is the Director of Operations at Ecological Associates, Inc. and she will be sharing about the work EAI does to monitor and protect shorebirds during the construction and post-construction phases of coastal restoration projects like beach nourishment and dune restoration. As part of the permit-compliance monitoring, biologists collect data on nesting birds as well as protected species like piping plovers and red knots.  Data are submitted to the Florida Shorebird Database and are used to assess populations of focal species.
