About The Event

Join us the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, October through May, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM for the Scrub Jay Walk at Jonathan Dickinson State Park, an exceptional opportunity to encounter Florida’s only endemic and most charismatic bird species.

This guided, leisurely stroll covers approximately 1/4 to 1/2 mile along a closed, former paved road through open, rolling scrub terrain. Walking through the sand pine scrub offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about and observe Florida scrub-jays. These birds, found exclusively in Florida and specifically within the scrub community, are rare and a delightful sight! Whether you are an enthusiastic birdwatcher or simply seeking a pleasant morning in nature, this program provides an enriching and scenic experience through one of Florida's rarest plant communities.

We will meet less than a quarter-mile from the park entrance along the road leading to the Pine Grove Campground. Take the first…
