About The Event

Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1963 as an overlay of NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center for the protection of migratory birds. 131,668 acres of Refuge features a wide variety of environments: coastal dunes, saltwater marshes, freshwater impoundments, scrub, pine flatwoods, and hardwood hammocks -- all habitat for more than 1,500 species of plants and animals and 15 federally listed species.

Our birding group will meet at 7:00AM at:

  • Parrish Park / Max Brewer Memorial Pkwy in Titusville.

  • First tour: Black Point Wildlife Drive.

  • Then on to Biolab Road (if open), followed by a stop at

  • Oak Hammock and finally the Visitor Center.
