About The Event
Join us for our annual Eagle Watch Volunteer Training at the Kimbell Education Center in Jonathan Dickinson State Park. Our guest speaker will be Shawnlei Breeding, Audubon Eagle Watch Program Manager from Birds of Prey in Maitland, FL. This program is for all volunteers and interested newcomers and will take approximately 2-3 hours with refreshments and new signups to follow.
Volunteers from previous seasons are requested to contact Linda Wishney, Eagle Watch Coordinator for Audubon of Martin County, at pelican2000@hotmail.com if you are still interested in participating in the Eagle Watch Citizen Science Program for Martin County. If you feel you are no longer able or willing to participate, it is important to let her know so she can arrange coverage for each nest.
Participation requires at least two checks a month for eagle activity and hopefully once a week or more during nesting season when eaglets are present, following through with fledging from nest. Also, documentation is required for each visit and there is a helpful App available for this.
Libby Reinert, Park Services Specialist, was kind enough to arrange with the Jonathan Dickinson Park Manager to have entrance and theater reservation fees waived for our meeting.
Hoping to see everyone for this very important meeting! Guests are welcome to attend.
