Volun-TEEN Program - Volunteer at Possum Long!
Time & Location
About The Event
Our five acre nature preserve acts as a santuary for over a hundred migratory and resident birds. These birds rely on our property's ability to provide enough forage for their busy lives! Florida unfortunately, has some of the worst non-native exotic plants and we are constantly having to make time to remove the culprits. Learn how to identify these foreign invaders and properly remove them.
After having scavenged the property for the first part of the morning you will feel intimately connected to all our paths, and sitting areas. Take greater ownership of the place you're helping and help us create a trail map! You and your group will be able to pick out a spot on the property that you want to have as a stop on the map, researching the importance of the plant, forage type, feeder, or butterfly cache as a highlight for future hikers, and school groups!
We will be working around the property so please come dressed to work outside with closed toe shoes!
Please come with plenty of water (preferably in a resuable container) & sunscreen!
Wear closed toe shoes and clothing you don't mind getting sweaty in.
