About The Event

ABOUT THE TOUR: Species you might observe - Red-winged blackbirds, eastern meadowlarks, loggerhead shrikes, hawks, herons, killdeer and more. Due to Covid-19, this birding tour is limited to 10 people that will have access by car to this 2600 acre environment unique to this area.  Lakeside STA is managed by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), public access is managed by Audubon of Martin County. The SFWMD requires that the following guidelines are strictly followed:

  • Use of facial cover in public places as mandated by the County
  • Maintain Social Distancing
  • Avoid group gatherings of more than ten people
  • No car pooling with others than members of the same household
  • Stay in vehicles during tour
  • No sharing of equipment (cameras, binoculars, scopes,  etc.)

LOCATION: Lakeside Ranch STA is located at 9400 SE 126th Blvd, Okeechobee, FL 34974

TIME: We meet at 8AM.

DIRECTIONS: From I-95, take Route 714 west, turn right on Route 710, go 1/4 mile and turn left turn on Route 15B. The Lakeside Ranch STA is immediately after the milk production plant on the left.

WHAT TO BRING: Binoculars, reference books, Bird ID apps, water and snacks, camera and sunglasses.
